Unfortunately, people over the age of 65 in the U.S. remain a highly underserved group in regards to parks. This gap exists despite the many benefits of parks, which among other things also include a positive relationship between physical and emotional well-being. Thus, the purpose of this report is to identify and to compile information from different sources about the needs and preferences of older adults in regards to open space and synthesize it in the form of design guidelines for senior-friendly open spaces in cities.
