Regional Studies Association (RSA)

WELCOME

The Regional Studies Association (RSA), the leading international learned society in the field of regional studies, is proud to announce that it has recently opened a US Project Office, in collaboration with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The RSA has a long-standing record of supporting the work of academic researchers. Its key awards to this end include the Early Career Grant Scheme, the RSA Awards for outstanding research, support for the organization of one-off events, such as conferences and workshops (RSA Event Support Scheme), in addition to travel awards.

The US Office will be an integral part of organizing a North American Regional Studies Conference (set for December 2013), and working with a new editorial board for the new launch Regional Studies Association journal – Territory, Politics and Governance, whose editor in chief, Professor John Agnew is based in the Geography Department at UCLA.

THE TEAM

Professor Lois Takahashi has been appointed to lead a team of two US-based researchers, Dr. Beth Tamayose and Taner Osman, in the enterprise of identifying and reaching out to key regional studies and science communities in North America. These efforts are geared towards fostering more cross Atlantic collaboration, and the development of knowledge exchange between the worlds of academia, policy and practice.
